Napa Valley – the cities and towns of California’s wine country

The  “Napa Valley – the cities and towns of California’s wine country” illustrative map is a tribute to the cities and towns that make up one of the world’s great wine growing regions.

American Canyon, Napa, Oakville & Rutherford, Yountville, St. Helena, Calistoga

Long considered California’s most famous wine region, Napa Valley exploded into the global spotlight following the 1976 Judgment of Paris, when a Chateau Montelena Chardonnay from Calistoga trounced nine other Chardonnays in a blind tasting in Paris, including extremely prestigious bottles from France. This triumph forever changed the international perception of Northern California’s wines.

Thirty miles long and five miles wide, this small slice of heaven is home to more than 500 wineries throughout a collection of quaint towns: American Canyon, Napa, Oakville & Rutherford, Yountville, St. Helena, Calistoga. Each has its own personality and places to discover; from Napa’s urban wine trail to Yountville’s renowned fine dining to Calistoga’s detoxifying hot springs.

I am excited to include Napa Valley, in a portfolio of important cities, towns and regions I have illustrated over the last 20 years. As an artist, I have created edition maps celebrating cities and regions around the country. Some of those include San Francisco, Boston, Davis, Silicon Valley, Sacramento, Watsonville, Lake Tahoe, Route 128, Half Moon Bay, Ventura, New York City, Wall Street, Palo Alto, Pasadena, the Tannery Arts Center and Santa Cruz just to name a few.
