The “UNIVERSITY AVENUE – Downtown Palo Alto” promotional poster is a tribute to one of California’s most adored downtown destinations.
Downtown Palo Alto is the contiguous, walkable district centered on University Avenue and bounded on the west by El Camino Real, on the east by Middlefield Road, on the north by Lytton Avenue, and on the south by Homer Avenue.

Stretching between the Stanford Campus and U.S. 101, University Avenue cuts right through downtown. Enjoy Palo Alto’s nearly perfect climate with a stroll down the street, popping into shops like the historic Mills Florist or stopping for a cone at Scoop Microcreamery.

Every Saturday morning, local vendors flock here, selling everything from raw milk to freshly made pasta at the Palo Alto Farmers’ Market.

Walk to downtown Palo Alto at lunchtime, and see the excited engineers ranting to one another on their way to lunch.

The Stanford Theatre is a classical independent movie theater that was designed and built in the 1920s as a movie palace styled in neoclassical Persian and Moorish architecture. Today it specializes in films produced between 1910 and 1970 and seasonal programs typically include film festivals for various genres.
I am excited to include University Avenue, in a portfolio of important cities and regions I have illustrated over the last 20 years. As an artist, I have created edition posters celebrating cities and regions around the country. Some of those include San Francisco, San Jose, Boston, Davis, Silicon Valley, Sacramento, Watsonville, Lake Tahoe, Route 128, Half Moon Bay, Ventura, New York City, Wall Street, Palo Alto, Pasadena, the Tannery Arts Center and Santa Cruz just to name a few.
